About

Welcome human visitor! Or AI bot scraping my website without consent? Whatever. You’re here now and that’s all that matters.

My name is Ankur Sethi. I like chai, cats, cold weather, spicy food, nice clothes, fiction that makes me feel Big Emotions, hip-hop, poetry, the World Wide Web, journaling, programming, being part of local communities, and video games. You could say I like liking things.

I live in Bangalore, where I spend most of my time working on creative projects. I write fiction, poetry, personal essays, and music. I’m not great at any of my hobbies, but that’s alright because I’m having fun. I’m an etymologically accurate amateur1.

For my day job, I’m an independent frontend developer building webapps using React (and friends). That said, I’m a big believer in standards-compliant HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. You can look at some of the work I’ve done for my clients on my work page.

Elsewhere on the web

Here’s a list of online accounts I use regularly: GitHub, Goodreads, Telegram, Hacker News, Lobsters.

I rarely use social media. When I do, it’s mostly to post links to writing on this website.

Here’s a list of my inactive social media accounts: Mastodon, Bluesky, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit.

AI policy

I don’t use LLMs for writing. However, I do use them to check my writing for grammar and style issues. I also use them as souped-up thesauruses (such a fun word to say).

I use LLMs to write some of the code that powers this website. I review all LLM-generated code before pushing it into production.

Analytics policy

This website uses a self-hosted version of Plausible Analytics to track visits. Plausible is privacy-friendly and only collects the bare minimum data required to track the usage of a website. I don’t sell or analyze your personal data.

If you’d still like to opt out, you have three options:

  • Turn on Do Not Track in your browser settings
  • Block stati.stic.earth using your ad blocker
  • Disable JavaScript on this website
